Serving Isolated South Worcester Elders
Operated in close collaboration with the Worcester Housing Authority and volunteer neighborhood drivers.
Eliminating the Invisible Transit Barrier in South Worcester
Carrying 25 pounds of milk, poultry, and canned goods on a municipal bus or over icy winter sidewalks is an insurmountable barrier for seniors with walkers or arthritis. We bring the pantry right to their floor.
Direct-to-Doorstep Delivery
Our volunteer drivers carry heavy grocery boxes directly up elevators and stairs to apartment thresholds—eliminating all lifting and transit barriers.
Senior-Tailored Nutrition
Nutrient-rich, low-sodium, and diabetic-conscious selections including fresh whole milk, eggs, soft citrus, hearty soups, and high-protein canned poultry.
Friendly Wellness Check-Ins
Every delivery includes a warm face-to-face check-in, reducing dangerous senior social isolation and confirming heating, power, and medication security.
Low-Barrier Enrollment
No burdensome asset disclosures or intrusive bureaucracy. If you are an elder or disabled resident who cannot walk or carry bags, you qualify.
Routine Delivery Windows & Coverage Area

Frequently Asked Questions: Mobile Senior Delivery
Everything you need to know about doorstep service, nutrition boxes, and volunteer drivers.
Who is eligible for the WHA Mobile Senior Delivery program?
This service is designed specifically for seniors (ages 60+), individuals with physical disabilities, or medically compromised residents of South Worcester (including Worcester Housing Authority sites such as 38 Lewis Street) who cannot physically visit the red pantry building or carry heavy grocery boxes.
What is inside each mobile grocery delivery box?
Each box contains 20 to 30 pounds of nutritious, senior-friendly food: fresh milk, eggs, fresh seasonal fruit (such as apples and oranges), easily prepared vegetables, low-sodium canned beans and soups, cold-chain chicken or ground beef, whole grain bread, and oatmeal.
How much does mobile delivery cost?
Mobile delivery is 100% free of charge. There are never any delivery fees, subscription costs, or gratuities accepted. This program is funded entirely by community donations and Worcester County Food Bank rescue logistics.
How do I sign myself or an elderly family member up?
You can complete the intake form on this page or call Alison Mallett directly at (508) 755-7481. Case managers, visiting nurses, and family members are welcome to enroll a client or loved one on their behalf.
Can volunteers help pack or drive for mobile deliveries?
Yes! We actively need volunteer drivers with clean driving records and reliable vehicles on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday mornings of every month. Visit our Volunteer page or call our center to register.
Sponsor Mobile Van Fuel or Volunteer as a Driver
A $50 gift fills the delivery van fuel tank for a full month of doorstep drop-offs. Or volunteer 2 hours on a Tuesday to carry boxes to neighborhood elders.
